Vacuum excavation (NDD) uses high-pressure water or air to break up soil and a powerful vacuum to remove it. This provides a controlled way of excavating around underground services and infrastructure, reducing the risk of damaging assets compared with conventional mechanical excavation.
It is widely used for potholing, service exposure and trenching where live power, water, gas, sewer, drainage and telecommunications assets are present, and where a safe, precise excavation method is required.
